Weekly Plan

Rest & Review Strategy

Take one full rest day per week and reduce study intensity every fourth week to prevent burnout over this 16-week plan. On rest days, engage with Japanese entertainment such as anime, dramas, or novels for passive immersion. Daily Anki reviews of 15-20 minutes should continue even on rest days to maintain vocabulary retention.

Adjustment Tips

  1. 1

If you are already scoring near passing on practice tests, reduce vocabulary study time and increase timed reading practice to build speed.

  2. 2

If listening is your weakest section, add 30 minutes of daily Japanese audio immersion outside of study hours (podcasts, news, audiobooks).

  3. 3

If you struggle with reading speed, practice reading Japanese news articles daily and gradually reduce the time you allow yourself per article.

  4. 4

If grammar patterns are not sticking, create your own example sentences for each pattern rather than relying only on textbook examples.

  5. 5

If you feel burned out, take two rest days in a row and adjust the plan to extend by one week rather than pushing through exhaustion.
